Money changes hands between the user (subscription fees) and the model provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). The publisher whose analysis provided the actual “ground truth” for that answer? They get nothing.
Current attempts to address this - bot paywalls from CloudFlare or Tollbit - are basically toll booths. They’re binary blockers. They might protect content, but they don’t price it dynamically or monetize it effectively. They’re not marketplaces.

Mediation & Injection: A brand (let’s say Capital One) wins the auction. We dynamically render the publisher’s content, but with a critical addition: Capital One’s message gets injected directly into the JSON-LD structured data.

Ingestion & Synthesis: The Generative Engine scrapes the page. Because LLMs prioritize structured data for context, the Engine ingests both the publisher’s financial analysis and Capital One’s contextual message.
